Welcome to my book blog!
I’m Stephanie, obsessive reader, mom to two excessively busy kids, wife to one mad scientist.
Books have always been my thing. I loved it when my parents read to me, but when I finally learned to read myself, things really took off. I checked out Each Peach Pear Plum and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs repeatedly from my first grade’s classroom library. I fell in love with The Babysitter’s Club series in second grade and wore out my copy of Back Home by Michelle Magorian during my middle school years. In high school, I read Stephen King, Robin Cook, Ernest Hemingway, and piles of the romance novels my mother kept stashed in the closet; as an adult, I’ve developed a deep love for women’s fiction, memoir, and nonfiction that covers many topics.
Books are life for me. They’re an escape from the chronic pain I struggle with; they’re a window to the wider world around me; they’re a way to keep my mind growing and active, making sure I constantly challenge myself and my beliefs, and to ensure that I never stagnate. Little makes me happier than a trip to the library, and you can find me at one local branch or another three or four (and sometimes more!) times a week.
I’ve started this blog not only to share what I’m reading, but to force myself to think a little deeper about the material I’ve read, to delve deeper into the topics and examine the meaning of it all. And I’d love to hear what you think, too. If you have a thought about something I’ve read or written, I’d love to hear it.
Besides reading, I enjoy knitting, sewing, cross-stitching, language learning, cooking (vegetarian and vegan food, preferably), baking, writing, taking walks around my neighborhood while listening to music, exploring nature with my family, and doing badly-balanced yoga on my living room floor while being swarmed by my two cats.
